Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor from Denmark. He has appeared as Copenhagen mayoral candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third season of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix, and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At 27 years old He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from that school in 1995. He also appeared in The Killing's drama. After that, he played in Borgen III and Those Who Kill Both of which were internationally recognized Danish dramas. He also had a major character in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV series House of Cards he played the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. The show aired in the UK in the year 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm
